Payment Methods
Last Updated: October 2026
At Berkshirelegwear (accessible via https://berkshirelegwear.com), this page explains how you can pay, how your payment is protected, when the charge is taken, and what happens when a payment does not go through.
Paying for a pair of pants should take less time than choosing the inseam. Every method below runs through one gateway, nothing is stored with us, and the amount at checkout is the amount on your statement.
By placing an order, you agree to the terms below. If a payment question is not answered here, email us at [email protected] and we will be glad to help.

1. Accepted Methods
- PayPal: log in to your PayPal account at checkout and pay from your balance or a linked method.
- Debit card: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover debit cards, entered on PayPal's card page without a PayPal account.
- Credit card: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit cards, entered the same way.
2. PayPal Gateway
Every payment, including card payments, is processed through PayPal's gateway, which is certified under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. You do not need a PayPal account to pay by card; choose the card option at checkout and enter your details on PayPal's secure page.
3. Payment Security
Card numbers are entered on PayPal's pages, encrypted there, and never passed to us. We receive a confirmation that the payment succeeded and the amount, nothing more. The site itself is served over SSL.
4. When You Are Charged
The full order amount, including the $4.95 shipping, is charged once at checkout. There are no installments, subscriptions or recurring charges. If we later cancel any part of the order, the corresponding amount is refunded under our Cancel & Change Order Policy.
5. Currency
All prices and charges are in US Dollars. If your card or PayPal account is held in another currency, your issuer converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign transaction fee that we do not control and cannot refund.
6. Sales Tax
Sales tax is calculated at checkout where applicable, based on the shipping address, and is shown as a separate line before you confirm the order.
7. Failed or Declined Payments
If a payment fails, nothing is charged and no order is created, so there is nothing to cancel. The usual causes are a mistyped card number or expiry date, a billing address that does not match the card, a daily limit on a debit card, or an issuer's fraud check. Try again or use another method, and email us if it keeps happening so we can check our side.
8. Pending Authorizations
Some issuers show a pending authorization for a few days after a payment, and occasionally a second pending line after a failed attempt. These are holds, not charges, and they drop off on their own, usually within 5 business days. If one lingers longer, write to us with the date and amount and we will confirm what was actually charged.
9. Refunds
Refunds always go back to the payment method used at checkout. The timing and process are set out on our Return & Refund Policy.
10. Payment Questions
A charge you do not recognize, a payment that will not go through, or anything else about paying can be sent to us at the address below.
